Have you ever had a day where you just felt the need to do something different? You know that feeling where you’re ready to break free from your normal habits and routines, or the things that everyone else says you should do that just don’t work for you?
Today was one of those days for me.
It started off a typical Monday. I woke up, ran through my morning meditation, listened to a short devotion and followed up with a workout.
As I was about to begin journaling I had a lonely, empty feeling in the pit of my stomach.
I couldn’t quite put my finger on the reason. Maybe it because I was coming away from a fun weekend with my husband? It could have been related to the change of seasons and the shorter days? I wasn’t sure but I just felt like I was suffocating in loneliness.
So, instead of journaling in my normal cozy spot in bed, I decided to get outside.
Where I would end up I wasn’t sure, but I knew it needed to get out…to be in nature, where I could see LIFE! Even if I never opened my mouth to talk to another human being or heard another person’s voice, I just wanted to be where LIFE existed.
I found a spot in a park nearby. It was a park that was familiar. My husband and I often biked through it while heading to the downtown of Indy. Though I didn’t pick this particular spot for that reason, it ended up surfacing some great memories…racing home on our bike to beat a storm, waiting in a string of cars to get our seasonal entrance pass, to name a few.
For some reason, today those memories just made me feel more alone…but at least I wasn’t. I could hear LIFE all around me; the sounds of the frogs croaking and birds chirping, the leaves rustling in the breeze, the water trickling over the dam. All of these sounds were comforting.
This change of place was exactly what I needed to get me back on track. I’m certain I’ll be back here again at some point.
If what you’re doing is no longer working for you, consider a change. Though the change may be temporary, it is still necessary, providing an opportunity for growth.
Are you ready for something different in your LIFE! Maybe you’re looking for a career change, a new hobby, or a new approach to health?
Whatever it is, don’t be afraid of it! Creating new habits can be fun. It is definitely an important aspect of growing, learning and feeling valued…and who knows, you might just be the ONE thing you’ve been searching for.
What are you interested in changing?
What have you changed that’s made a difference in your life?
I’m impressed, I must say. Rarely do I come across a blog that’s equally educative
and interesting, and let me tell you, you have hit the nail on the head.
The issue is something too few people are speaking intelligently about.
I’m very happy I found this during my search for something relating to this.
